At Afrogem, every bespoke piece begins with your story — your vision, your moments, and your dreams. Our process is rooted in meticulous craftsmanship and creative collaboration, ensuring the piece you take home is more than jewellery: it’s a legacy to cherish for generations. Because exceptional artistry takes time, we encourage you to reach out well before your special occasion. Once your design is confirmed, you can expect approximately four weeks for our artisans to bring it to life.
How to Begin Your Bespoke Journey
Here’s what you can expect when we bring your bespoke piece to life, step by step:
#1 Discovery & Stone Selection
Your journey begins with a conversation. A member of our design team will explore your ideas, preferred gemstones, ring sizes, metal choices, and your timeline. Together, we weave your inspiration into a design brief that reflects your unique story. Whether you’re dreaming of diamonds or seeking something rare and unusual, we’ll help you select stones from our curated collection of loose gems, or work with yours if you have heirloom stones you’d like to reimagine guiding you every step of the way. Within a week, you’ll receive an initial quote and design sketches to review.
#1 Discovery & Stone Selection

#2 Design & Refine
From your guidance, our designer crafts detailed concepts using state-of-the-art CAD software. This allows us to create intricate designs you can see from every angle before we move forward.
You’ll receive realistic 3D renderings of your piece, making it easy to visualise and refine. Your feedback is essential — we revise until your piece feels exactly right, both in spirit and in budget.
#3 Craftsmanship
Once your design is finalised, it’s over to our master goldsmiths. Here in our Cape Town workshop, tradition meets innovation to transform your vision into a tangible treasure. Depending on design complexity and stone availability, this stage takes approximately 2–4 weeks. We’ll keep you updated on your piece’s progress along the way.
#4 Treasure & Celebrate
After passing our rigorous quality checks, your bespoke piece is carefully presented in our signature Afrogem packaging, along with care instructions to keep it sparkling for years to come. You’ll also receive a detailed valuation certificate and your final invoice for your records.
Then, it’s time to celebrate the unveiling of your unique creation — a piece crafted to mark your milestones and carry your story forward for generations.
